RMHUC Social and Cultural Groups

Book Discussion Group

At present this group is not accepting any new members, but from time to time it does; RMHUC members can contact Leslie about possible openings in the future or to get help starting a new group (as club members did a few years ago in Boulder).

The RMHUC has an informal connection with a reading / discussion group, the Columbine Salon, that meets the second Wednesday of each month in Denver. Books are chosen to elicit lively conversation. Recent readings: THE TIN DRUM, TORTILLA CURTAIN, STRANGER IN A STRANGE LAND, and SPEAK, MEMORY.

Movie Discussion Group

A small group of us meets some Sunday of each month to discuss a current movie over a potluck dinner. Our selections in recent months have included: SMILES OF A SUMMER NIGHT, IN THE VALLEY OF ELAH, MICHAEL CLAYTON and BEFORE THE DEVIL KNOWS YOU'RE DEAD.

Proposed & Pending ...

Activities in formation, awaiting an interested RMHUC member to lead them:

  • several members are learning Argentine tango, and attend tango events regularly in Denver and Boulder. See the Tango Colorado Web Site to learn more about tango in Denver.
  • in the past we have had occasional evenings of social dancing (usually swing) at a Denver or Boulder nightclub; if you would like to organize a dance evening come to one of our monthly planning meetings (get details from club president).
  • a group to sight-read plays
  • women's "teas"
  • your ideas welcome -- come to any of our monthly planning meetings and discuss them!
